Recorder magic in Mainz: Susanne Fröhlich's sound begins!

The Kunsthalle Mainz is currently presenting a fascinating music project that combines art and composition in an unusual way. From Thursday to Sunday the talented recorder virtuoso Susanne Fröhlich is in the exhibition "Who’s Afraid of Sol la Ti?" of the composer Ari Benjamin Meyers. Fröhlich will play on the subcontrabass flute and implement a central musical motive with it that was specially designed for this performance.

Susanne Fröhlich, a versatile artist with roots in Passau, made a name for herself through her training at Amsterdam Conservatory and at the University of the Arts in Berlin. She is also a professor of new music in Berlin and a member of the renowned recorder quartet quartet New Generation (QNG). Her musical career is characterized by numerous awards, among other things she received the Award of Excellence for her innovative doctoral thesis in 2020.

insights into the exhibition discussion

Another highlight of the exhibition is the planned conversation between Ari Benjamin Meyers and Andreas Krause, the chief read of contemporary music at Schott-Verlag. They discuss the fusion of contemporary art and music, which is of particular importance at Meyers. By moving the music performance from traditional concert locations to public spaces and exhibition houses, Meyers strives to question the common ideas of perfection and hierarchy. Several other projects as part of the exhibition are planned, including artistic forms of exchange that promote interactivity between the artist and the audience.

The activations run daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are accessible without prior registration, which gives everyone the opportunity to experience this innovative connection between music and art. Entry to the exhibition is included in the price, so that visitors can not only enjoy the musical performances, but also get to know the entire ambience of the Kunsthalle.

In addition, the exhibition is promoted by various institutions, including the Ministry of Family, Women, Culture and Integration Rhineland-Palatinate. Local support shows the commitment to bring about and promote such creative projects in Mainz.

For all interested parties, there is no longer an excuse to miss this remarkable event. The Kunsthalle Mainz uses a sign of combining different art forms and invites you to discover these fascinating interactions. Details can be found at sensor-magazin.de .
