Dramatic fall in Mendig: Three young people seriously injured!

In a dramatic incident in Mendig, Rhineland-Palatinate, three young people were seriously injured in a fall into a shaft over 20 meters. The rescue workers, including the mountain station and the fire brigade, were quickly on hand. The injured were flown to nearby hospitals with a rescue helicopter. Tragically one of the young men is seriously injured.

The Koblenz police report that the three men aged 16, 17 and 19 on Sunday evening at around 7:00 p.m. were too fast with their motorcycles. When they were to be stopped by a patrol car, they ignored the request and left the motorcycles on the edge of the forest to flee on foot. A motorcycle was even registered as stolen. Ten minutes later, the youngsters put an emergency call themselves after falling into the shaft.
