October Kerwe in Kaiserslautern: Fest of the joy for everyone!
A long tradition in Kaiserslautern continued: the opening of the October Kerwe, an important folk festival that moves both locals and guests into the city. Mayor Manfred Schulz from the CDU gave the solemn starting shot by anching a beer barrel with two precise blows. "Finally again folk festival in Kaiserslautern," he said pleased about the big festival that promotes the sense of community.
The market department emphasized the inclusive importance of the event, in which people of different origins and social classes come together. This coexistence is particularly important for integration within the city. Schulz also made it clear that the presence of the showmen depends on the attractiveness of the festival: "Coming visitors, the showmen also come, and so the Lautrer Kerwe remains the largest folk festival in the West Palatinate."

The event extends until October 28th and is completed with a spectacular fireworks. Until then, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy tasty dishes from snack stands and sweet delicacies. Numerous rides ensure thrills that drive up the adrenaline level. The shopping-gässje also offers a colorful selection of spices, household goods and handicraft products.
Another highlight of the October Kerwe is the open Sundays. The shops in the city center and in the surrounding commercial areas will open their doors next Sunday. This additional possibility for shopping attracts many interested parties and complements the festival by another elements for a successful weekend.
The October Kerwe is not only a place of joy, but also an opportunity to maintain traditions and to make new friendships. With this in mind, Susanne Henn-Marker, the chair of the showman association Barbarossa Pfalz-Saar, hopes for numerous guests: "So visit the Kerwe!"
