On November 15, 2024, abandoned luggage in the main train stations in Mainz and Ludwigshafen provided a dramatic meeting with the federal police! The emergency services had to move out twice, which led to serious train failures and considerable delays in both cities.
First, at 7:20 a.m., a suspicious black backpack was reported on a bench on platform 5 in Mainz Central Station. While the federal police were looking for the concerned owner, the entire platform was cleared and train traffic was discontinued. A explosive dog examined the backpack, but noticed any danger. When the police opened the backpack, they only found personal items. The incident lasted until 8:40 a.m., and until the owner of the backpack reported at 9:15 a.m., 48 trains had already accumulated 955 minutes late!
drama at the main train station in Ludwigshafen
The next chapter of the travel crime novel took place at 9:50 a.m. at Ludwigshafen Central Station. Again, the 3-S headquarters of Deutsche Bahn AG reported an abandoned suitcase that stood in the main hall. While the hall was evacuated and access was closed, train traffic on tracks 1 and 2 stalled. But the owner was faster than the police had thought and reported during the measures. This incident could also be ended at 11:40 a.m., but five trains had to wait a total of 33 minutes longer due to the chaos.
The federal police in both cases put the people concerned onto the grain and urged the dangers of un -borne luggage. The message is clear: pay attention to your luggage! Neglected bags can lead to considerable police campaigns that not only cost time, but also could also cost money. A harmless piece of luggage can become so quickly to the big excitement!
