In order to counteract this, various schools in Rhineland-Palatinate promote the too-foot go to school. The Rhineland-Palatinate Minister of Environment and Mobility Katrin Eder emphasizes the health benefits and the positive influence on the climate. Three schools were awarded the ADAC for their initiatives to promote movement, secure school paths and healthy nutrition. This includes the Heddesdorfer Berg primary school in Neuwied, encouraging parents to try school without a car. The aim is that children get to school more safely, more independently and healthier.

The primary school Heddesdorfer Berg relies on stamp cards and yellow footsteps to motivate the children. The Goethe primary school in Höhr-Grenzhausen also offers active breaks and sports offers, as well as a reward system for children who come to school on foot. Similarly, the elementary and all-day school Ochtendende "Good mood dance" and forest days integrates into everyday school life to motivate the students.

In an ADAC survey from the spring of 2023, it was found that 22% of school children are brought to school by car. Many parents see the danger that comes from these "parent taxis", because 59% of the parents surveyed report dangerous traffic situations. Nevertheless, there are alternative solutions such as educational stops that not only relieve the flow of traffic, but can also have positive effects on the development of independent road users. The ADAC recommends bringing children to road traffic as early as possible in order to promote risk awareness and traffic safety.
