alarming news from the Moselle region! In the district of Cochem-Zell, the number of unemployed rose slightly in October. While other regions in Rhineland-Palatinate have a decline, 1125 people fight unemployment here-17 more than in September! A worrying trend that heralds the winter break early!

Current numbers and developments

Despite the increase, there is a ray of hope: compared to the previous year there are 49 unemployed less. The unemployment rate is now 3.3 percent, which means an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month. In October 2023, the quota was 3.5 percent. The Koblenz-Mayen Employment Agency observes this development exactly, because Cochem-Zell seems to play a special role in the agency district, which is mainly related to the tourism industry.

The early winter break could be a challenge for many companies in the region. While the neighboring regions can look forward to a positive development, the Moselle region currently looks dark. The question remains: What are the next steps to stop this worrying tendency?
