Tennis highlights in Bad Dürkheim: An exciting ranking tournament!
On January 5, 2025, the first large tennis highlight of the year took place: the DTB-open indoor ranking tournament of the Palatinate tennis association, which was held in Bad Dürkheim and Haßloch. Tournament director Thomas Dreher praised the smooth cooperation between the two event locations.
The players in Haßloch mainly fought for women, while in Bad Dürkheim mainly focuses on men. Anne Zehetgruber, who won the tournament in 2022, was the only former winner in the women's field and currently occupies the 252nd place in the German ranking. The strong attraction of the tournament led to many participants from the region, including from Mannheim, Mainz and Speyer.

The men have had no application for wildcards for youth players. Local heroes like Lea Wolf, Noelle Galow and Greta König left the tournament early. Max Amling from BASF TC Ludwigshafen reached the final without losing a single sentence. Marek Müller from TC Bad Dürkheim made it into the second round, but then lost to Maximilian Markov.
In the men's final, Niklas Schell from TC Bad Vilbel prevailed against Max Amling. The tournament recorded a total of 37 men and 28 women. Last year there were only 14 men and 23 women, which impressively shows the increase in participation. The organization of the tournament in Haßloch and Bad Dürkheim was consistently evaluated.
