Fraudsters deal in the Palatinate: two cases, two cars, no money!
In the Palatinate, fraudsters have been successful twice with a brazen stitch and brought two sellers for their cars. These acts raise questions about how gullible buyers and sellers can actually be on the Internet.
In the first incident, which was reported from Haßloch in the district of Bad Dürkheim, a man offered his Ford Ranger online. A prospect reported, visited the car and was immediately ready to buy the car. The agreed price was 22,000 euros. The person interested in purchase paid 2,000 euros in cash and promised to transfer the remaining amount. But until today, weeks after the deal, this remaining amount has not arrived. In addition, the buyer is no longer available by phone.
Repetition of the mesh in Weidenthal
The same happened to a seller in Weidenthal, also in the district of Bad Dürkheim. This was about a Mercedes B200. Here, too, a down payment of 2,000 euros was made, and again the promised remaining amount failed to materialize, which should cost the seller an additional 20,000 euros. The sale was handled in the same way as in the first case, and here too the perpetrators disappeared without a trace.
It is particularly frightening that in both cases the sellers not only handed over the car keys to the fraudsters, but also the vehicle letters. The police urgently warn against publishing such sensitive documents before paying full. It seems that the sellers of the stitch of the crooks have not given enough distrust.
the warning of the police
The investigation into both incidents run, the police advise sellers on online platforms to be extremely caution. Cybercriminals are often difficult to recognize and their methods are deceptively similar. Especially when offers appear unusually advantageous, you should be heard and make sure that everything has its correctness.
Another incident has shown that the problems can also go in the other direction. A young man from Ludwigshafen wanted to acquire a BMW via the social platform Tiktok. He paid a deposit of 5,000 euros, but never got in touch with the supposed seller.
Overall, these cases show how important it is to be vigilant when buying car on the Internet. Fraudsters take advantage of people's trust and a healthy level of skepticism can prevent you from becoming a victim yourself.
