Marienborn celebrates 100 years: A forgotten place is rediscovered!
Niederbieber, Deutschland - Niederbieber celebrates a century of Brunnen Marienborn! The historic fountain plant "Marienborn", which was built in 1925 at the entrance to Niederbieber, looks back on an eventful history. Originally, it served the domestic water supply of the Rasselstein colony and was a popular rest area for travelers who took a refreshing break on the way to the city. Many people from the Westerwald even set out barefoot to wash their feet and make themselves “city -free” for the city visit. A place full of memories and stories!
But the times changed! With the advent of modern road traffic, the Marienborn lost importance. The once estimated source was no longer used and the facility was forgotten. Despite a renovation in 1985, the fountain, benches and the fountain disappeared, and nature took over the terrain, so that there was hardly anything left of the former splendor.
a new life for the Marienborn
Now, in 2025, the fountain is brought back to life! Members of the Niederbieber Citizen (VNB) association have teamed up to clean the facility for the upcoming anniversary. They have uncovered the remains and made visible so that the citizens and visitors can remember the history of Marienborn. A reason to celebrate and rediscover a historical heritage!
