Federal Cross of Merit for Eggebeker: Frauke Tengler inspires with heart!
Eggebek, Deutschland - In a moving ceremony, the 76-year-old Frauke Tengler from Eggebek was the Federal Cross of Merit for their remarkable commitment awarded. Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) presented the award in Kiel, where Tengler worked as a vice president in the regional association of the German Red Cross from 2004 to 2022. Her tireless efforts, especially for the protection of children, should inspire others to also get involved in volunteering. "It enriched my life," she said proudly and wished that younger generations will recognize the importance of volunteering.
The voluntary commitment in Germany is of enormous importance and affects millions of people. As Stern reports, almost 30 million Germans are involved, which corresponds to around 40 percent of the age of 14. These volunteers take on a variety of tasks that are urgently needed in the community, such as the fire brigade, in the homeless aid or in health care. Covid 19 pandemic in particular has emphasized the importance and challenges of the volunteer. According to surveys, many organizations could hardly continue their work during this time, and there is a risk of strengthening the crisis in volunteering.
volunteer heroes for coping with crisis
An urgent example of the importance of the volunteer is the story of Patricia Krombach, who has been working as a homeless helper in Krefeld since 1999. Despite the adverse circumstances during pandemic, she was tirelessly committed to supplying the needy with food. The work of Lucas Bornschlegl, who carried out countless life rescues during the flood disaster, was also impressive. Their unshakable commitment shows how important volunteering is in times of crisis and that the heroic deeds of these committed citizens make a difference for many people.
