Politicians in the classroom: Students ask explosive questions!
During an exciting school visit to the Friedrich-Karl-Ströher-Realschule plus in Simmern, members of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament answered questions from the students. The event, which aroused the interest of young people, put democracy in the spotlight and showed that it is anything but self-evident. Political topics were discussed lively and the students had the opportunity to ask their questions directly to the politicians.
Things became particularly explosive when ninth-grader Alina Kostic confronted AfD member of the state parliament Ralf Schönborn with clear words. “Right-wing radicalism and xenophobia” – these terms shaped her view of the party and created an exciting atmosphere in the auditorium. The students were engaged and interested as they challenged the politicians with critical questions. It was a moment that highlighted the importance of political engagement and the need to address current issues.
