ÖVP in the crisis: Tikok video with right-wing radical slogan triggers turmoil!

As part of the current election campaign in Fernitz-Mellach, the People's Party provides a bitter scandal. A video was released on the Tikok account of the local party, which announced the list positions 31 to 33 and was backed up with the right-wing radical slogan "Foreigners, Germany the Germans". These biting and xenophobic statements are derived from a song by the Italian producer Gigi d’Agostino, "L’Amour Toujours", who made headlines last year due to similar incidents in Germany. The post was deleted after only two days, as well as Orf Styria reported.

The incident will meet the ÖVP in the middle of the hot election campaign for the municipal council elections on March 23 and has caused considerable turmoil. Vice Mayor Georg Thünauer was perplexed and speaks of an "annoying incident". The State and District Party emphasize that such extremist content in the ÖVP has no place and are condemned. Such statements would put the party in a bad light, and Thünauer is looking for solutions to find out how this incident could come about. The party's Tikok account remains deactivated until full clarification, and all previous contributions have been removed, Antenne Styria known.

Thünauer assures that the contribution in question does not come from the ÖVP and warns of the spread of prejudices about the local party: "We are disappointed and shaken." He hopes for a quick education, especially since the party is already working with an external expert to determine the origin of the misleading contribution. However, this remains unclear, and the ÖVP must now try to defend its reputation in a delicate political and cultural atmosphere.
