Heavy load transport ensures chaos: traffic in Ruppichteroth paralyzed!

A serious accident occurred in Ruppichteroth, in the Rhein-Sieg district early Wednesday morning. A heavy load transport, which was loaded with important freight parts for the new valley bridge Rahmede in Lüdenscheid. With an impressive weight of around 127 tons, the truck brought traffic to a standstill on federal road 478.

The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. when the truck got stuck on a traffic island and a median in the Harth district. The police quickly arrived to meet the situational challenges and immediately initiated a full closure of the street. This block stopped until around 9 a.m. and led to noticeable traffic disruptions in rush hour traffic.

background of the accident

As can be seen from the police, the heavy transport in the Czech Republic started. There, the valuable bridge parts in a steel mill as well as in other works in Austria and Belgium were prefabricated. The truck was part of a convoy trip with two different transports, each of which transported a bridge element around 30 meters long. The front truck stuck while the following had to interrupt the journey.

To rescue the stuck truck, a special pitching vehicle was required. The rescue work was completed at 8:30 a.m., but it took another one and a half hours to find a suitable storage location for transport. In the meantime, the truck fell by the wayside and waited to continue the trip next night.

consequences of the accident

The positive news for the construction work in Lüdenscheid is that the bridge part remained unchanged, despite the incident, and had no damage. Since the steel parts for the valley bridge are delivered to the construction site with a sufficient lead time, the lost day should not cause any significant delays in the construction process. The construction on site can continue as planned, as the components arrive in time for welding and screwing anyway.

The police also took a traffic accident with property damage because the traffic island was affected during the incident. The incident is documented as a further challenge in often hectic transportation.

The Bonn Generalanzeiger first reported this incident online and thus put the action in the right light. Further details and continuous information about the state of the steel parts and their transport can be found on www.come-on.de are read.
