Power and self -confidence: women learn Wendo in Remscheid!

Remscheid. Learn women in Remscheid in an inspiring environment to increase their self-defense skills. Petra Dellweg, an experienced trainer for self -assertion and self -defense, introduces her course participants to the practices of the Wendo. "Every woman can do it," she emphasizes, while showing the challenges that the participants can master on the first day, such as the smash of wooden plates.

The Wendo, derived from "Women do it", was developed in Canada and the USA and combined techniques from different types of self -defense in a easily learned form. The courses aim not only to convey physical skills, but also to strengthen women's self -confidence. Dellweg explains that often an internal struggle against beliefs, such as "I can't do it", stands in the way. These inner beliefs, paired with social norms, prevent many women from asserting.

a safe space for personal development

In her courses, Dellweg works with the participants in realistic everyday situations and uses role -playing games to help them process unpleasant experiences. "Often women do not listen to their gut feeling and can be guided by their uncertainty. We convey to them to recognize and communicate their limits," she says. In doing so, awareness is sharpened when a situation becomes threatening and what actions are necessary to protect yourself. A simple "stop!" is introduced as a powerful tool in order to act clearly and determined in an emergency.

The registrations for the courses are not accidental. Various social institutions, such as Lebenshilfe or the working group domestic violence, often encourage women to participate. Dellweg emphasizes that many of the participants fight with psychological stress or traumatic experiences. "The way to the course is often a crucial step to overcome these hurdles," she explains. The age groups of the participants vary greatly, starting at 18 years to 99 years, which underlines the diversity and accessibility of the offer.

Wendo is more than self -defense

It is important to emphasize that Wendo is not martial arts, but a prevention approach. "It's not about muscle strength, but about having a clear stand and using body language," said Dellweg. The techniques are designed in such a way that they can be learned for all women regardless of their physical fitness. The training not only trains physical skills, but also promotes mental well -being.

Additional courses are designed especially for groups such as children and people with disabilities. Dellweg also offers trauma -conscious courses that are tailored to the needs of mentally ill or severely traumatized women. These courses create a supportive atmosphere in which women are encouraged to become aware of their strength. "I hope that every woman who takes part in our courses gains more confidence and the ability to stand up for herself," she concludes with optimism.
