Winter service in Paderborn: 2000 tons of salt ready for icy roads!
Kreis Paderborn, Deutschland - In Paderborn, winter services are available! Around 2000 tons of road salt are stored and are waiting to free the streets of dangerous ice. "The ten winter service vehicles are upgraded and ready for use," explains Timm Rosenthal, who has a close eye on the situation. The preparations are made to react quickly, because the temperatures don't even have to fall below zero degrees to make the streets dangerous.
It gets critical from 4 degrees over zero! When the sun rises and the moisture hits the cold soil, ice formation threatens. Rosenthal and his team therefore constantly observe the weather, air humidity and floor temperature. If necessary, it is cleared and scattered in a three -shift operation. The early shift begins at 3 a.m. to ensure that the district roads are cleared in good time for rush hour traffic. "We need around three hours per run," says Rosenthal.
efficient cooperation for safe roads
The district building station is responsible for about 330 kilometers of roads across the district. The main cycling routes are also cleared together with the city and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is particularly important to clear the main passage through the Senne to ensure the safety of all road users. The winter services are well prepared to defy the challenges of winter!
