Matthias Koch: Green candidate gives the Olpe district new ecological swing
In the district of Olpe, the Greens have taken another crucial step towards the 2025 federal election. In a completed election assembly in the office in Olpe, the members of the party were given the opportunity to choose their direct candidate for the Bundestag constituency 148. With a clear and unanimous decision, the choice fell on Matthias Koch, an active entrepreneur and a member of the city council who can enjoy the full trust of his party colleagues.
In his speech,Matthias Koch emphasized the urgency of an ecologically sustainable transformation of rural areas. A decentralized energy supply that relies on wind, solar and hydropower is particularly important to him. He explained: "If we want competitive energy costs with the simultaneous decarbonization, we have to generate the energy again decentrally". With this approach, he pursues the goal of combining ecological and economic aspects.
District Olpe: Infrastructure and sustainability
Koch, which also has personal experiences in environmental protection, announced that he had experienced the negative effects of pollution and climate change up close. As a former diving instructor, he knew how important clean waters are for life on site. His close connection with the region is another aspect that he wants to bring in the election campaign.
The Greens in the Märkisches Kreis and in the district of Olpe have decided to start the next Bundestag election according to a number of mixed election results in the past, including the European elections and the elections in Thuringia and Saxony. Despite the initial setbacks, they strive to communicate their political messages even more concise and more memorable.
Koch will not compete alone; It can build the full support of the Greens from the 13 municipalities of the constituency, including Halver, Herscheid, Kierspe, Meinerzhagen, Lüdenscheid and others. This support could also be crucial to further promote the political goals in the region.
Another central point of the meeting was the discussion about the dilapidated traffic infrastructure in South Westphalia. After the election, there was an exchange between Dr. Thilo Pahl, general manager of the IHK Siegen, and Martin Metz, an expert in transport policy from the ranks of the Greens. It was emphasized that investments are urgently necessary to secure the economic and ecological future of the region.
The Greens see the expansion of local public transport and the fundamental improvement of the traffic structure as crucial measures to increase the quality of life of the people in the region.
