Martinsfest in Olpe: A new chapter for the Öleper Meerenslied!

Olpe, Deutschland - in OLPE, where the Martinsfest plays a very special role, the teacher and musician Peter Hoberg composed a new Martin song that makes the hearts of citizens beat faster! The "Oileclary Meerensenslied" is now becoming the central component of the celebrations that the St. Martinus community appreciates so much. Hoberg, a passionate storyteller, has dealt with the topic of “Martinstag” for years and is now bringing his vision into reality.

The idea for this thrilling concert march has a long history! The first version was created over 30 years ago, which was already performed by the music train of the Olpe volunteer fire brigade. "Over the years, the march has been reworked between long resting phases," says Hoberg. With a lot of dedication, he revised all the voices and created an impressive 16-part orchestra sketch, which was finally brought to the final by Alexander Reuber. A true masterpiece that makes the tradition of Martin Festival shine in new splendor!

a musical friendship

The collaboration between Hoberg and Reuber is a story full of musical passion! Reuber, who has been composed and arranged for his home club, the music train, for many years, was once a piano student of Hoberg. Her creative connection is also evident in the past: 2011 Reuber orchestrated the Festouverture composed by Hoberg for the city anniversary. And last year Hoberg was actively involved in the premiere of Reuber's work "13 minutes in spring - silence". This close friendship and cooperation has shaped the musical legacy of Olpe and will continue with the new Martin song!
