Cash in danger: Sparkasse and Volksbank revolutionize machines in NRW!

In North Rhine-Westphalia, a new cooperation between Sparkasse and Volksbank creates excitement among cash lovers! The days when you had to search for an ATM could be over soon. The two banks have decided to combine their machines in the branches, which is a welcome relief for many customers. But this change also has its dark side!

The Sparkasse in Olpe will in future set up an ATM from Volksbank in its SB branch (Martinsstraße 53). That sounds like a great solution for everyone who needs cash, but there is a big catch: the possibility of paying in cash! In addition, customers now have to drive to other Sparkasse for transfers and bank statements, which significantly limits the convenience. The main office of Sparkasse (Westfälische Straße 9), Frankfurter Straße 22 and Franziskanerstraße 16 will be the new contact points for these services.

Important information for customers

The Sparkasse and Volksbank have teamed up to counteract the decline in the ATMs in Germany. More and more people are using mobile payment methods, which leads to a dramatic decline in the machines. This cooperation is intended to better cover the cash needs of customers and at the same time maintain the branches after a landlord has terminated the contract. Despite all efforts, the question remains how long cash will still play a role, while the banks are trying to adapt to the new payment habits.
