Waldbröl: Millions of project Markethalle ensures heated debate!

Waldbröl, Deutschland - Waldbröl- A turbulent meeting in the main and finance committee has put the plans for the new market hall to the test! Mayor Larissa Weber now has to smooth the waves after the FDP faction made a drastic application that wanted to shorten the obligation to commit an authorization for the million-dollar project from EUR 2.4 million to just EUR 100,000. This caused heated discussions because the multifunctionality of the hall, which is also supposed to include a tourist information and office space, was suddenly questioned. Despite a previous decision that was made by a majority, the project fell.

The market hall, which is to be built on around 800 square meters, has never been controversial, but the financial framework conditions bring the city into a critical situation. Andre Steiniger from the SPD described the project as "financially critical" and called for a new discussion about the overall concept. The mayor emphasized that massive changes could endanger the funding opportunities. There are currently 6.2 million euros in the household, with 60 percent possible funding. Weber warned that there would hardly be any funding for a simple market hall and underlined the importance of the project for the future of the city.

property tax adjustments decided

In another point, the committee with two votes against the FDP decided on the introduction of differentiated lifting rates in property tax B. The aim is to eliminate the "imbalance" between living and non-living areas. Frank Marble from the SPD said: "We don't want to make living even more expensive." From 2025, the lifting rate for residential plots will be 815 % and for non -residential plots at 1,309 %. Property tax A is also adapted and sinks to 252 %, which corresponds to a reduction by 68 percentage points. The rate for trade tax remains unchanged at 565 %
