Environmental bus Lumbricus brings sustainability to the Dieringhausen vocational college!
The “Lumbricus” environmental bus was recently guests at the Dieringhausen vocational college. This bus, which is operated by the NRW (NUA) nature and environmental protection academy, has the task of sensitizing people of all ages to sustainability. In the past few days, the middle school students of the PIA training course (practice -integrated training) have had the opportunity to get to know the diverse aspects of nature through practical experience. The aim is to enable these prospective specialists to act as multipliers in their later institutions and to raise awareness of the environment. The initiative behind this bus is part of the more comprehensive project "School of the Future", in which the Dieringhausen vocational college deals with the topics "Discover and explore - appreciate and protect diversity". This approach should not only convey knowledge, but also stimulate to integrate more practical activities outdoors in the future.
eventful programs for promoting environmental awareness
As part of this event, the students from the GOS classes (professional high school educator/Ahr) experienced another exciting day. The GOS20 class had the opportunity to carry out a business game under the title "Tatort Wald" in cooperation with the Bergisches Agency for Cultural Landscape (BAK) at the Biological Station Oberberg.
The business game offers the participants the opportunity to explore various aspects of the forest in a playful form and to deal with ecological questions. Through these activating formats, understanding of the forest ecosystem is sharpened and the importance of nature conservation and sustainable development integrates into the awareness of young people.
The sometimes practical, partly theoretical elements aim to actively involve the students in the learning process. The commitment of the NUA is considered significant because it provides the necessary input to deepen the expertise and at the same time promotes the sense of responsibility for learners to their environment.
This type of environmental education is particularly important because it lies the foundation for future, sustainable action. By introducing young people to nature and environmental protection at an early stage, the chance that they later opt for an environmentally conscious lifestyle grows. Such initiatives are necessary to raise awareness of ecological challenges and to actively deal with the available resources.
