Golden times for Oberwiehl and Hülsenbusch: Villages shine in competition!

Lindlar, Deutschland - An exciting event in the Oberberg district: 21 villages have faced the “Our village has a future” competition, and two of them won the coveted gold medal! Oberwiehl, a charming village with over 2,000 inhabitants, and Hülsenbusch, a lively place with more than 900 residents, have convinced the jury with its creative ideas and the strong community spirit. These two villages have now qualified for the state competition and are allowed to look at a large stage!

The big final event took place in the cultural center in Lindlar, where the tension was noticeable up to the last minute. After almost three hours full of emotions, the two winning villages were awarded gold. You can not only look forward to fame, but also to cash prizes that will benefit your village community. Mayor Ulrich Stücker von Wiehl and the proud children Greta Roller and Mattia Sabatelli were among the first congratulations.

The evaluation commission examined the villages for various criteria, including habitat, construction design and the social commitment of the residents. Sustainable economic development and an active cultural life were crucial for success. Udo Kolpe, a committed citizen from Oberwiehl, beamed with joy: "Gold was unexpected, but we worked hard for it!" Community is also very important in Hülsenbusch: A cooperative was founded here ten years ago to save an old pub and to create numerous activities. Sven Kiebeler from the pub cooperative cheered: "We are very happy about gold in the district competition!"
