ADFC bicycle climate test: Oberberg is fighting for better bike conditions!
Gummersbach, Deutschland - The nationwide ADFC bicycle climate test is in full swing and the clock ticks! Until November 30th, citizens have the opportunity to give their opinion on bicycle friendliness in their cities. But the response in the Oberberg district remains shockingly low! Only seven out of 13 municipalities have reached the minimum number of 50 participants to be taken into account in the ranking. While 164,000 people have already raised their voice across Germany, it looks rather mau in this country.
The situation has improved somewhat in the past three weeks, but ADFC district association chairman Bernhard Werheid is anything but satisfied. Gummersbach leads with 142 participants, followed by Bergneustadt with 79. Also Lindlar (69), Wiehl (65), Engelskirchen (58), Hückeswagen (55) and Marienheide (50) made it into the ranking. But what about the others? Reichshof (42) could still catch up, while Waldbröl and Radevormwald (35) are also on the brink. Morsbach and Wipperfürth are far off with only 19 or 26 participants and show that there is an urgent need for action here!
survey on bicycle friendliness
The survey is more than just a number play! It reflects the satisfaction of cyclists and evaluates aspects such as security, comfort and the quality of the bike paths. The participants invite a total of 27 questions to share their experiences - from security on the bike to the attractiveness of the bike paths. An open comment field makes it possible to make individual comments, be it praise or criticism.
The results of this survey are crucial! They give the municipalities the opportunity to make improvements and eliminate weaknesses. The ADFC has carried out this test for the eleventh time, supported by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport. The last time around 245,000 people took part, and the results led to a ranking of the most bicycle -friendly cities. Now it is up to the citizens of Oberberg to raise their voice and fight for a better bike climate!
