On October 1, 2024, a serious traffic accident occurred in Mönchengladbach-Waldhausen. At lunchtime there was a collision between two cars at the Monschauer Straße and Karstraße intersection, in which one of the vehicles overturned. Passers -by who observed the accident immediately informed the fire brigade in order to provide help as soon as possible.

A sister from a nearby hospital was on site and immediately started the injured person with first aid. When the rescue workers arrived, it turned out that a person had already freed themselves from the overturned car, but was more easily injured. This was quickly taken care of by the emergency services and transported to a nearby hospital.

Another accident victim was in another vehicle and was initially treated there by an emergency doctor. Fortunately, the injuries were not life -threatening, so that the emergency services could initiate a gentle rescue. Special tools were used to remove part of the car and save the person concerned safely. Then she was also taken to a suitable hospital.

The police were quickly on hand to regulate the traffic and to initiate appropriate investigations into the cause of the accident. During the entire mission, the Monschauer Straße in the direction of Aachener Strasse had to be completely blocked to ensure safe and efficient processing of the use.

Several vehicles of fire and rescue guard II (Holt), such as the fire engine and the rescue vehicle, as well as the aerial ladder of the fire and rescue station I (Neuwerk) were involved. The team was supported by an emergency doctor and two ambulances from the city of Mönchengladbach, while the police took over the security measures and traffic regulations. The head of operations was fire inspector Sascha Göddertz.
