Christmas message: Women strengthen hope for peace!
The current discussion about the role of women in the church picks up speed. Pope Francis has published the final document of the Catholic World Synod, in which the gender equality and possible consecration offices are addressed for women. According to jesus.de this document could be the basis for fundamental changes within the Catholic Church, since for the first time since the second Vatican Council it indicates a reform of such an extent and the "Volkses God" and demands more transparency. Nevertheless, the question of the women's offices remains open to women, which many disappointed in the church environment.
In a similar way, the pastor Jürgen Artmann expresses in a comment on RP Online that it is high time to listen to the votes of women. He emphasizes that today's challenges, such as climate and justice issues, cannot be solved by a predominantly male leadership. Women have played an important role in biblical history, and Artmann demands that their perspectives and solutions take seriously.
The world synod makes it clear that the discourse on gender equality in the church and beyond is far from over. In this context, Artmann's reminder for the greater consideration of female votes could be regarded as an urgent addition to the debate about the final document of the Synod, which opens the potential perspectives for a fairer and more inclusive church.
