Hydrogen roadmap 2.0: Emscher-Lippe on the way to climate neutrality!
The Emscher-Lippe region is again in the spotlight with the new edition of its hydrogen roadmap. In 2021, the initiative to promote a hydrogen economy was launched, and today, three years later, there is considerable progress. The region, which is largely supported by the Recklinghausen district, relies on hydrogen as a key technology for climate protection and business development.
"Hydrogen opens up great opportunities for the topics of climate protection and promotion of the domestic economy. We have set a strong sign with the measures already implemented by the hydrogen roadmap," said District Administrator Bodo Klimpel and emphasized that the region wants to become an up-and-coming hydrogen hinge.
significant progress
In recent years, the number of hydrogen projects has more than doubled: from 57 to over 100. The region can now build on a wide range of technologies, including the use of hydrogen in emission -free waste collection vehicles and fuel cell buses. These developments are no longer a future music, but a tangible part of everyday life.
Another important aspect is the transition to green hydrogen, which is obtained by electrolysis. Future forecasts show that production could increase to around 83,000 tons by 2032, whereby a quarter of it should be diversified by electrolysers. In view of a growing need of approx. 200,000 tons by 2032, an import of hydrogen will also be inevitable.
infrastructure and connections
A central element of the strategy is the comprehensive expansion of the hydrogen infrastructure in the Recklinghausen district. Dorsten station is to be expanded into a hub of the new hydrogen network. New lines such as the "Doma" (Dorsten-Marl) and "Doha" (Dorsten-Duisburg-Hamborn) are created to ensure a direct connection between production facilities and large customers in North Rhine-Westphalia.
These developments are of great relevance for the chemical industry and the energy -intensive medium -sized companies in the region. The hydrogen roadmap shows that companies in the Emscher-Lippe region will be able to obtain green hydrogen faster and more cost-effective than in many other places in Germany. With a clear plan and a well -networked network, the region positions itself as an innovative location for the hydrogen technologies of the future.
Roadmap is therefore not just a document, but a strategic step into a climate -neutral future that could establish the region as a model for other areas. With the focus on solutions and technologies, a sign is set for a more sustainable handling of energy.
