New project in Dannenberg: Learning German and experiencing disaster protection!
Dannenberg, Deutschland - In a groundbreaking project in Dannenberg, the German Red Cross (DRK) launched a unique course, which offers refugees, including many from Ukraine, Surinam, Syria and Kurdistan, the opportunity to learn German and to develop in disaster protection. Every Monday evening around 20 participants gather to build up with German volunteer tents and field beds. This interaction is not only a practical learning location, but also a place of encounter and exchange.
Matthias Lippe, who initiated the project, lets the refugees learn playfully while developing communicative skills at the same time. "I want everyone to have a good time here and express themselves in the language," explains Lippe. Among the enthusiastic participants are Viktoria Obopolenko and Alina Fink, the two from Ukraine report how valuable this course is for them. "I feel like I feel like a second family here," beams Viktoria and emphasizes how the work at the DRK also contributes to processing their memories of their homeland.
a step into self -employment
The course that started four months ago and lasts one year has a clear goal: to offer the refugees a perspective. "We want you to find your own way and take care of yourself," emphasizes Sonja Petersen, President of the DRK state association Lüchow-Dannenberg. The success speaks for itself: Jurii Anhelusha received a permanent job as a daycare driver at the DRK as part of the course. "This is the first step into a new life," Petersen is optimistic about the future of the participants.
How the course will continue is on the brink - the DRK is dependent on donations to secure this valuable support for refugees. However, the commitment and the joy of learning of the participants clearly show that this passionate commitment not only enriches all of them, but also brings new hope into their lives.
