Leverkusen-Mitte: New station building comes-city takes over!

Leverkusen-Mitte, Deutschland - The city of Leverkusen has big plans for its new train station! In a courageous step, the city will build the station building in Leverkusen-Mitte itself, as Björn Krischik, the head of the district development company Wiesdorf-Manfort (SWM), and treasurer Michael Molitor announced. At this point there are only gray containers - a sight that urgently needs a breath of fresh air!

The competition for the architectural concept has already been decided: The Hamburg office "Blauum" took first place! The new building should not only be functional, but also a real eye -catcher. On the ground floor, a rental typical of the station is planned, with real people who sell tickets - a wish that many citizens have expressed. The location remains in the possession of the city to ensure that the city keeps control and does not lose to an unknown investor.

a striking building for Leverkusen

The designs promise a high recognition value: "Travelers on the train should immediately recognize: We are in Leverkusen," emphasizes Molitor. The architecture will be characterized by brick walls and arches - away from the uniform office architecture! Environmental and social director Alexander Lünenbach also ensures that sustainable construction is made with recyclable materials.

A bicycle parking house will also be part of the new train station, and the city has analyzed the need with the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC). From safe storage options for expensive bikes to repair corners - the offers will be versatile. In the coming days, the winning designs will be published on the SWM website, and the anticipation for the new Leverkusen-Mitte is growing!
