Art duel in Krefeld: New exhibitions set standards!
The Kunstmuseen Krefeld present a fascinating dialogue between two outstanding artists who exhibit at one of the most symbolic places in modernity. The two exhibitions in the Bauhaus-Villen Haus Lange and Haus Esters are connected by the overarching topic of "the human scale". This remarkable compilation shows how art speaks across generations and reinterpreted both perspectives and materials.
in Haus Lange, the work of Marion Baruch, an artist who was born in 1929 and is strongly influenced by the textile industry in Milan. Your works of art are created from textile waste, which are usually regarded as the remaining stock in fashion production. This remnant transforms them into impressive sculptures and pictures. Baruch, which is currently alive in Italy, has placed great emphasis on the feel and the emotional connection of the materials in her career. Your works not only express the beauty of fabrics, but also ask questions about the relationship between inside and outside, body and space.
Marion Baruchs Lebenswerk
The exhibition in Krefeld not only offers current works by Baruch, but also includes its artistic beginnings in the 1960s. This will recognize their extensive life's work, which has only recently deserved the attention that it should have received for a long time. "The haptics of the textiles are important to them. It refers to the selected pieces with lyrical titles in different languages," explains curator Dr. Magdalena Holzhey. Baruchs works are a poetic examination of the fabrics and their meaning through different cultural lens.
At the same time, the exhibition "For our parents" by Anna K.E. opened, an artist born in Georg in 1986. Anna K.E. is known for your architectural installations, which were specially developed for the exhibition rooms of these historical buildings. Her approach requires a deeper examination of the room itself. It describes the building as a sculpture and explores its rooms in a unique way by taking the audience into the experience of its works of art.
reinterpretation by Anna K.E.
The Anna K.E. Designed work in Haus Ester's aims to steer the perception of visitors. With innovative materials such as enamel arrows that encourage certain perspectives, it creates an interactive experience. "She looked at the building like a sculpture. She slips into the house with her body," explains Dr. Sylvia Martin, the curator of the exhibition. This creative use of space and material is a significant part of their artistic work and asks the viewers to reconsider their own perspective.
Both exhibitions are not only works by individual artists, but also part of a greater discourse on art and their role in society. The opening will take place on October 6th at 11:30 a.m. and the exhibitions end on February 9, 2025. More information about the events and the accompanying program are on www.kunstmuseenkrefeld.de to be found.
This double exhibitions not only present new artistic perspectives, but also increase historical references to two strong, female positions in art that show how diverse and dynamic the field is.
