Stern singers bring light and blessing to the Weez town hall!

On January 3, 2025, the Sternsinger were traveling in Weeze to bring the traditional blessing to people. In costumes that are reminiscent of the Three Kings, the children visited numerous households to deliver blessings in the form of small pieces of paper. Mayor Georg Koenen received the star singers in the town hall and praised the high participation of many children in this valuable tradition. The campaign is not only a sign of faith, but also a way to collect donations for charitable purposes, such as Lokalklick.eu reported.

Sternsinger traditionally move around January 6th, the Epiphany, from house to house. This tradition has its roots in Christianity and was introduced by the Catholic Church. The children embody the three kings Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar, who brought gifts to the child of Jesus. They spread the message of charity and support and collect donations for development projects that support particularly disadvantaged children in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. Also christmas.org highlights the importance of the star singers and describes how they leave chalk marks over the doors that represent a blessing: c, m and b stand for "Christus Mansionem Benedicat", together with the year of action.
