Carpenters in the Höxter district: 1,249 flashes in just two weeks!
in the Höxter district has been a new speed camera trailer for about a month, which proves to be extremely effective. A first balance sheet shows that the annual costs for the rent according to the first surveys by the generated fines can probably be easily brought back in. This could benefit the district treasury and at the same time increase traffic safety.
The Höxter district council made the decision in March of this year to rent a so -called speed camera trailer for three years. This speed camera, which is called semi -stationary speed measurement system, was put into operation in mid -September. In the first two weeks after activation, the device came to impressive 1,249 triggering - this corresponds to almost 90 photographed speed violations per day.
locations and costs
The speed camera trailer, the use of which is planned by at least autumn 2027 at various locations, is preferably placed at accident accumulation centers. This happens in the hope that the presence of the lightning works has a deterrent effect on traffic offenders and can therefore avoid accidents.
The financial framework is clearly stuck: the Höxter district pays around 100,000 euros annually for rental, maintenance, insurance and repair costs. This investment could prove to be valuable, since it not only contributes to reducing the speed violations, but also increases security on the streets.
In the current discussion about traffic safety, the speed camera trailer has a central role. The high number of speed overrun found in the first weeks of the operation allows the conclusion that there is a need for action in many places. The measures of the district should not only increase the income through fines, but above all sharpen the awareness of road users.
