The winter sports season in Winterberg is in the starting blocks! The lift operators have already produced huge amounts of artificial snow to optimally prepare the slopes. With an investment of five million euros in new snow -making systems that work independently of the outside temperature, snow reliability is raised to a new level. At least one lift on the Poppenberg in Winterberg is to be put into operation on Friday, and the anticipation is huge!

Climate change requires innovative solutions

The challenges of climate change make it essential for the lift operators in Hochsauerland to rely on the latest all-weather snow producers. These new devices produce snow even at high temperatures and are therefore a real game changer for the winter sports industry. In contrast to conventional snow cannons, which can only work at minus two degrees, the new systems guarantee continuous snow security.

but that's not all! The operators plan to use the waste heat of these innovative snow producers to heat the catering institutions, ski rental centers, ticket sales buildings and employee apartments on the edge of the ski areas. A clever move that not only increases efficiency, but also lowers operating costs!
