Arnsberg honors creative environmentalists: prices for sustainable projects!

The award winners of this year's environmental and climate protection award were awarded in a glamorous ceremony in the historic town hall of Arnsberg. Mayor Ralf Paul Bittner and Johannes Kobeloer from Western energy presented a total of 5,000 euros to outstanding projects that are committed to environmental protection. The jury, consisting of representatives of the council groups, the administration and West energy, praised the impressive initiatives, all of which make a significant contribution to sustainability.

The winning projects

The big winner of the evening was the Catholic day care center Liebfrauen, who with her project "Preserve the creation for your and my future!" first place went and received 2500 euros. The children actively get involved in environmental protection by avoiding garbage and producing seed balls from waste paper. In addition, packaging is avoided at breakfast, and the little ones learn how to protect the environment.

The Evangelical Martin Luther kindergarten and family center landed in second place with the project "We are bee friends with heart". Here the children not only designed an insect -friendly outdoor area, but also created a flower meadow and an insect hotel together with seniors. The children were trained into real bee experts and thus learn the importance of bees for our ecosystem. There was 1,500 euros for this.

The third place and 1000 euros went to TuS Voßwinkel for her project "On the way to sustainable, fair sports club". The association relies on sustainability with fair sports jerseys, vegan food and a youth protection concept. He is also the first Fairtrade Association in the city. A total of seven applications were received for the price, and the jury was pleased with the high quality of the submitted projects. Frank Trompeter from the Environmental Service emphasized that only new applicants were awarded this year.
