Dispute over Bremen Christmas tree: a waste of tax or luck?

Ansgarikirchhof, Bremen, Deutschland - The dispute over the Bremen Christmas market is heading! Showmen Harry Wegener, who has been trying to place his unique, 20 meter high "Bremer Christmas Tree" at the Ansgarikirchhof for many years, sees a clear disadvantage in rejection of his applications. "In my eyes, the waste of tax is," says Wegener about the public grants for the current "winter forest", which consists of several wooden huts with a gastronomic offer and is open until January 5. This tastefully decorated winter landscape offers a variety of delicacies, from mulled wine to crepes and grill specialties, and attracts numerous visitors, such as Deutsche-weihnachtmaerkte.de reported.

The public money injection of around 85,000 euros, which was used last year to finance the timber buildings, encounters criticism when it comes to criticism. "I would have set up my business for free at the Ansgarikirchhof and even paid special use fees for it," he emphasizes. Despite several legal proceedings against the city, which gave him both lack of space and other providers as reasons for the rejection of his application, Wegener remains optimistic and has again applied for a stand. The administrative court has already found that the rejection was illegal, which opens up the possibility of future cooperation, while the city's inner department has dispensed with an appointment, such as the Weser-Kurier reported.

The Ansgarikirchhof, declared an innovation area, currently offers a festive atmosphere that is characterized by colorful lights and illuminated figures. The operators of the winter forest emphasize the high response and the atmospheric surroundings, which comes into its own at night. However, Wegener is convinced that his concept of a walk -in Christmas tree would attract far more visitors. "I wonder why a ferris wheel is permissible, but not my Christmas tree," he says, hoping for a fairer evaluation of the registration criteria for the coming years. It remains to be seen whether his dream to finally present the "Bremer Christmas Tree" at the Ansgarikirchhof.
