Andreas Plum opens new plant farm in Erkelenz: a stroke of luck!

On January 2, Andreas Plum will open a new plant yard in Erkelenz, which is a significant step for him personally. It has been exactly 25 years since he passed his journeyman's examination as a gardener here on Kölner Strasse. With the takeover of the garden center A. Müller-Platz from the previous owner Caroline Tischbein, he not only continues his professional career, but also wins five employees from the former company for his team.

In the conversation, the 44-year-old reported that there were numerous "interfaces" at the first meeting with table leg. The connection between the two companies is deeply rooted because the families have a long history in the tree school economy. This exchange in the region was of great importance in the past, and Plum is pleased to continue this tradition.

The history of the garden center

The garden center, which Andreas Plum now takes over, has an eventful history. Five decades ago, Annemarie Müller-Platz, the mother of Caroline Tischbein, helped building the company, which initially only operated plant trade. Over the years, the range has increased enormously and now also includes cut flowers and decorative items. Nowadays the total area of the company extends over around 5000 square meters, including 1200 square meters as a sales area.

Andreas Plum describes the size and the sales of its new company as comparable to its existing location in interruption. He emphasizes that the customer frequency in Erkelenz is higher, which is due to the comprehensive range of fresh cut flowers. However, the values and the philosophy that follow the two companies are the same: a high -quality product range combined with individual advice.

"We wanted to grow", so Plum, who has no doubt that the takeover is a great opportunity for him. He describes the opening of the new location as a "stroke of luck" and emphasizes that the catchment areas of its two plant stations do not overlap. So he can now benefit from both locations. In addition, he would like to continue the inheritance of a successful name and has secured a committed team on site.

When deciding on the takeover, the synergy effects also played an important role for Plum. Although the headquarters remain in the interruption, it is advantageous to only need one accounting and logistics unit. This efficiency is encouraged by the existing truck, which can now be used for both locations.

preparations for the opening

Currently there is a clearance sale in the garden center A. Müller-Platz, which is scheduled to take until mid-December. After this phase, Andreas Plum plans to get the new business to shape by making renovations and setting up more modern shelves and plant tables. At the opening on January 2, the focus is initially on cut flowers and houseplants, and Plum sees this as an opportunity to win the trust of the previous customers.

He speaks optimistically of the plans for a big spring festival that is to take place towards the end of March or early April. The full range is presented, including new summer flowers for the house and garden. Andreas Plum is determined to continue the success story of the former garden center and is happy about the challenges that the new task will bring.
