On Monday, November 18th, 2024, the time had finally come: Police Chief Reiner Hamm officially introduced Ulrich Koch as the new head of police operations at the Mainz police headquarters. The 51-year-old Koch, who most recently worked as a human resources officer in the Ministry of the Interior and Sport in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, brings a wealth of experience with him. He previously headed the Ludwigshafen Police Department and knows the region like the back of his hand!
He spoke enthusiastically about his return to the “Home Presidium”, where he already headed the offices in Ingelheim and Worms. “It feels good to be here again,” enthused Koch, emphasizing his connection to the region. He faces this new adventure with full motivation, and this is also reflected in the ceremonial inauguration, at which the ranking of police officers, family members and guests from the judiciary, politics and society were prominently represented.
A new course for the police
Police Chief Hamm received the greatest attention, praising Koch as a “policeman through and through.” Among the guests were high-ranking personalities such as the senior public prosecutors from Mainz, Bad Kreuznach and Worms as well as the mayor of Mainz, Nino Haase. Koch succeeds Thomas Brühl, who only retired as police vice president in September and can look back on a successful term in office.
The new course that Koch is taking promises a breath of fresh air and exciting developments for police work in Mainz. He brings not only specialist knowledge and experience, but also a clear vision for the future of the security situation in the region. The Mainz police can look forward to innovative approaches and committed measures!
