A remarkable initiative of the Hamm police brings a breath of fresh air to deal with the LSBTIQ*community! Police President Thomas Kubera opened an internal training in which more than 50 civil servants from various areas of service dealt with the challenges in dealing with sexual identities. The speakers Jana Hansjürgens and Alexandra Lüüs from the state specialist office in Blick* offered valuable insights into the diverse ways of life that earn respect and equal treatment.

in a world in which members of the LSBTIQ*community are often confronted with hatred and discrimination, Kubera made it clear: "It is the task of the police to respect and protect the dignity of everyone." The experts explained important terms and raised awareness of the current developments, such as the self -determination law that has come into force on November 1st, which makes it easier to have their names changed.

a strong sign of support

The police director Marion Sautter emphasized the urgent need to help discriminated groups in her lecture. Her message was clear: "It is important that we actively act against queer hostility." This commitment is supported by the Charter of Diversity, which the Hamm police joined in 2023. This charter sets a sign of diversity in all forms, regardless of gender, origin or sexual orientation. And that's not enough!

Soon the Hamm police will become part of the "Respect!" be who aims at respect and acceptance. Everywhere in Hamm and the surrounding circles you can already see stickers that characterize respectful and queer -friendly places. Police President Kubera promised: "We too will put such a sign of diversity at the police headquarters!" A strong commitment to acceptance that the doors should open for everyone!
