Construction work in Hamm: Stefanstraße remains closed until the end of the year!

The construction work on Stefanstraße in Hamm turns out to be much longer than originally planned. The area between Uhlandstrasse and Horster Straße has been closed for over a year, and the city administration now states that the measure could continue until the end of the year. The city spokesman Tom Herberg made it clear that various circumstances have led to the delay.

Originally, the construction work should be completed within seven months. However, both delays in the start of construction and bad weather conditions have caused the kidnapping. The work that was announced in September last year was delayed from a starting appointment at the beginning of September to early October. These developments are viewed by the city as unfortunate, but not unexpected,

causes of the delays

The project includes the renewal of the mixed water canal by the Lippe Association and the execution of management work by the municipal utilities. At the same time, the city of Hamm takes care of the renovation of the sidewalks. In particular, the poor working conditions in winter have led to slow progress, as Herberg explains. In addition, during the construction work, it was found that the condition of the substructure of the street is worse than originally assumed. This led to more complex work that caused additional delays.

The additional work that has been created by the necessary house connection lines must also be mentioned. These factors have not only influenced the time frame, but also increased the costs of the construction work, although the exact additional costs are not yet known. "We still don't know what height they will be," emphasizes the city spokesman.

cost overview and traffic control

In advance, total costs of around one million euros were expected. These made up for 467,000 euros for the Lippe Association, 400,000 euros for the city of Hamm and 146,000 euros for the municipal utilities. In view of the new developments, however, it can be assumed that these estimates may be exceeded due to the delays and necessary additional work.

The construction site in Stefanstrasse as a result remains. The road and a sidewalk are completely closed, but resident traffic is maintained. Deadings via Horster Straße, Barsener Straße and Berliner Straße are set up to steer the traffic during the construction period.

The complex problems that occurred during the construction measure once again illustrate the challenges in road construction. From bad weather conditions to unexpected structural defects - all of this has significantly influenced the work. Nevertheless, the city remains confident that the project work can be completed by the end of the year, which is of great importance for residents and the transport infrastructure of Hamm.
