In a spectacular step to improve emergency care, the St. Barbara Clinic in Hamm opened its new emergency room, which was modernized with an impressive investment of 70 million euros. This strategic decision aims to better counter the medical challenges of the coming decades and to ensure top medicine for the region. The emergency room is now a central point of contact for patients and offers numerous advantages that could revolutionize medical care.

efficient emergency supply under one roof

The new emergency room combines the emergency practice of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Westphalia-Lippe and thus enables optimal coordination of emergency care. "With this structure, we ensure more efficient care for patients who have optimal access to the necessary medical services both in emergencies and for routine examinations," explains Dr. Friederike Haermeyer, the senior doctor of the emergency room. The spacious area of around 1,700 square meters offers a covered lying down, which brings significant advantages for both the emergency services and the patients.

In addition, the bed capacity in the observation station was increased. Now eight beds are available in the observation station and four beds in the Chest Pain Unit (CPU). These extensions are crucial for the immediate treatment of patients with acute symptoms and enable seamless care, since all the necessary diagnostic and therapeutic measures can be carried out in a centralized manner.

The St. Barbara Clinic has also put its new operating rooms into operation, which offer patients and employees noticeable advantages. The shortened paths between the operation and recovery room enable more efficient processes. The employees had the opportunity to actively help shape the structures, which strengthens identity and comfort in the clinic. The identical equipment of all operating rooms simplifies the processes and facilitates the change between the halls, which optimizes the entire patient care.
