Nine trends for sustainable building: This is how the industry designs the future!

Österreich - The construction and real estate industry is on the pulse of the times! In the brand new trend report 2024, presented by the IG life cycle construction, nine revolutionary trends are unveiled, which are intended to make the future of building sustainable. Experts from the industry have worked intensively on this report, which was now presented at the annual autumn congress, in which around 100 companies and institutions from Austria took part. The trends range from "Building with the climate" to "less sealing" and show that the industry is willing to take responsibility!

The autumn congress, under the motto "Industry in Change", offered a platform for innovative ideas and the exchange about industry -related approaches. Wolfgang Kradischnig, spokesman for the IG life cycle building, emphasized the need to look outside the box and learn from other sectors. Keynote-speaker Nunu Kaller, an expert in sustainable textile industry, pulled exciting parallels between the textile and construction industry and demanded more research and networking to increase the recycling rate in both areas.

The nine trends in detail

The IG Life Cycle Bau has been committed to the sustainable planning and implementation of construction projects for over a decade. The new trend report gives a clear view of the challenges that the industry must master:

  • Building with the climate: climate manager building should become the standard, supported by a "climate apicker for the house".
  • sufficiency and human economy: a commitment to "Less is more" and humanistic values for a socially and ecologically compatible economy.
  • less sealing: Innovative measures for efficient use of soil are the key to achieving net zero.
  • The quarter-hour quarters: The vision of a city of short distances as part of holistic ecological urban planning.
  • regional building: The return to regional added value in the face of global challenges.
  • CCR Corporate Climate Responsibility: Companies take on ecological responsibility through sustainable building materials and emission reduction.
  • from the ME-Project to the WE-Project: New models of cooperation are required.
  • purpose drive workforce: meaningful work becomes a need in the industry.
  • Artificial intelligence: Digital processes revolutionize the construction and real estate industry.
