Discover professions up close: 60 young people on tour through Hagen!

An exciting adventure for 60 young people! On the spectacular hop-on, hop-off tour through Hagen, Wetter and Herdecke, the participants were able to gain exciting insights into different professions. At seven different facilities, the buses kept where the young people could get on and out to learn and experience directly on site.

In the operating room, prospective operating technology assistants (OTA) impressively showed how to fish out of a stomach with a laparoscope gummy bear - a fascinating sight! The trainees and students quickly got into conversation and discussed the exciting everyday life in the operating room, shift services and the challenges that were already waiting for them in the first year of training. At the information stands of the nursing staff, visitors learned how difficult a hip prosthesis is and how terrifyingly large a galley can be. In the Bildungsakademie Volmarstein, an escape room and learning snacks were waiting for the young discoverers who even had the opportunity to put a real syringe in a simulation doll!

The tour also led to the Gert-Osthaus residential complex in Grundschöttel, where two residents showed their rooms and reported on their lives in the shared apartment. The participants experienced more intensive support and training offers in an outdoor living group that only houses eight young people. In addition, the Marianne-Behrs-Haus and the Büllerbü day care center opened their doors in child and youth welfare, which immediately met with great interest. Iris Rischhar from the Volmarstein Education Academy was happy about the success: "We have already coordinated a first internship."

In Herdecke, the guests had the opportunity to explore the senior house on the old town in a wheelchair or to challenge the boss in air hockey. In the Vitus height there was a tasting with additional food and probe food that offered the participants insight into the everyday life of people with particularly intensive support.
