Zugchaos between Gelsenkirchen and Münster: Keep in Recklinghausen!
Due to urgent work on the infrastructure, Deutsche Bahn has to temporarily change some train connections between Gelsenkirchen and Münster. On Monday, the company announced that the trains are being diverted and that they are eliminated, especially in Recklinghausen Central Station. Travelers should find out more in advance, especially in local transport, since the travel times are extended.
The reason for these measures is extensive bridge work. Autobahn GmbH is in the process of expanding the Autobahn 43 and also renewing the Emschertal Bridge in Herne. This bridge is located directly above the tracks of the railway line between Herne and Recklinghausen, which is why Deutsche Bahn has to adjust its track infrastructure before renewal. These adjustments include the installation of new overhead line by specialists.
necessary adjustments and time frame
The current closures of the railway line are scheduled until November 4 at 9 p.m. Until then, train traffic in this area will be noticeably affected, which will bring considerable inconvenience for commuters and travelers in the region.
In addition to these changes, travelers have to adapt to alternative transport options, since the regular connections are severely restricted. Deutsche Bahn recommends rethinking the travel plans in good time and, if necessary, switching to other means of transport.
A look at the various regional railway lines shows that despite the detours there are numerous connections that lead from and to Münster. These include lines RB 50, RE 2 and RE 7, which run every hour and control various stops.
With these measures, Deutsche Bahn reaffirms its focus on maintenance and modernization of the important rail infrastructure, which is of great importance for many commuters and travelers. The train employees are ready to provide the best possible support during this time and to manage bottlenecks.
