A shocking event shook the railway line in Gelsenkirchen on Wednesday evening, October 30th! In a risky act, strangers who acted in the dark were placed a massive tree trunk on the rails. At 5:55 p.m. there was a disaster when the S-Bahn line S9 caught a tree trunk on the track at an alarming speed of 80-90 km/h. The train driver had no chance of recognizing the sudden obstacle in good time and avoiding a collision!

The force of the impact was enormous! The tree trunk, about 20 cm thick and one meter long, broke on the impact and was caught under the front wheel set of the train. By quickly resetting the S-Bahn, the repelled tree trunk could finally be removed. But the consequences of this willful act were violent: over 110 travelers had to be evacuated, luckily there were no injuries!
