Greens defend themselves against dog tax increase in Gelsenkirchen!
Gelsenkirchen. A storm of indignation brews! The city administration of Gelsenkirchen plans to increase the dog tax - for the first time since 2013! Owners of two or more dogs have to adjust to drastic price increases. The Greens in the city council have already announced their rejection and are fighting against this outrageous increase, which is to come into force from 2025.
The new tax rates are shocking: from 147 euros, the tax is to increase to 189 euros per dog if you hold two four -legged friends. It gets even more expensive for more than three dogs - from 168 euros to 231 euros per animal! And for the so -called "list dogs" it gets really bitter: up to 1,017 euros for three or more dogs are due here! The Greens, led by Adrianna Gorczyk, consider this increase to be "not proportionate" and warn of the financial burdens that this brings for dog owners.
Greens demand stability for animal owners
"The increase does little for the urban budget, while the burden is enormous for people," said Gorczyk. The combing company expects just 100,000 euros in additional revenue with a total budget of 1.5 billion euros! In view of increasing living costs and veterinary fees, the additional burden for pet owners is not sustainable. The Greens demand to keep the dog tax stable, especially for animals from the shelter. "This is a question of social justice," emphasizes Gorczyk.
The situation is already tense: Many people release their pets because of the high posture costs, and the animal shelters are overcrowded. The Greens warn against tightening this trend with the tax increase. The future of dog keeping in Gelsenkirchen is on the brink - and time is pushing!
