Disaster in South California: Forest fire destroyed over 130 buildings!

A devastating forest fire in South California has transformed the region into a nightmare! The flames, which are known as “Mountain Fire”, have already put at least 132 houses and numerous other buildings in rubble and ash. The fire brigade reports on 88 other damaged buildings and ten people who were hospitalized due to smoke poisoning. Hundreds of people had to leave their homeland while the flames raged unstoppably.

The Situation is dramatic! The fire chief of the Ventura district, Dustin Gardner, spoke of a "devastating" sight. Within a very short time, the fire has spread to an area of around 82 square kilometers, and the emergency services have so far only been able to control it five percent. Hundreds of firefighters fight tirelessly against the flames, which are additionally affected by the strong Santa-Ana winds. These winds that occur in the autumn and winter months contribute to the extreme risk of fire and have tightened the situation.

emergency and evacuations

California Gaverneer Gavin Newsom has declared an emergency for the Ventura district in order to release urgently needed funds to combat the fire. "This is a dangerous fire that spreads quickly and threatens life," he warned. More than 3,500 houses and shops are on the brink in the affected region. The authorities have ordered further evacuations to ensure the security of the residents.

As a precaution, the energy supplier Southern Southern California Edison has switched off the electricity in particularly endangered areas in order to minimize the risk of sparking and other fires. The combination of dry vegetation, persistently high temperatures and strong winds makes the situation particularly critical. Experts warn that such devastating forest fires could occur more frequently in the future.
