Euskirchen: 3.1 million euros for modern tourist information!

In the district of Euskirchen, the numbers bubble! With an impressive gross turnover of 345.8 million euros, 8.7 million day trips and 1.29 million overnight stays, tourism shows that it is booming. These figures were determined by the German Economic Science Institute for Tourism (DWIF) on behalf of Nordeifel-Tourismus GmbH (NET). District Administrator Markus Ramers is proud of this success and emphasizes: "Tourism is teamwork."

Now there is fresh news: The district of Euskirchen has received a notice of grant over 3.1 million euros from the Ministry of Economics, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy from the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. These funding are intended for the “Tourist Information of the Future in the Northern Eifel” project. By the end of 2026, new tourist information is to be set up according to the latest standards in every municipality. "Tourist information is the showcase of a tourist region," explains Stephanie Fähnrich from "Experience Plan".

The consulting agency has received the order to plan and design the contact points for tourists in the eleven municipalities of the district. "We will record a lot of data and floor plans to know what we can do," says Fähnrich. Particularly exciting: Blankenheim, Nettersheim, Schleiden, Bad Münstereifel and Hellenthal will receive an adventure cinema. In Hellenthal, even the daffodil blossom could be made experienced all year round!

The total volume of the “Tourist Information” project is 3.47 million euros, with 90 percent being funded. In addition, two places have been created that are now occupied. Net boss Iris Poth reports that the search took six months, but now the project can be pushed forward with full steam. A new logo that the region presents emotionally and authentically is also being developed. With the lead motif "#foldeinemherzen", the Nordeifel Touristik is freshly advertised in the social media.
