Norris celebrates gifted victory: Verstappen under pressure in Brazil!
In a dramatic sprint race in São Paulo, Lando Norris has won a surprising victory, which secures him valuable points in the World Cup classification! The Briton, which drives for McLaren, was able to reduce its gap to the leading Max Verstappen by two points and is now only 45 points behind the triple world champion. Norris benefited from a team strategy when his colleague Oscar Piatri, who started from the pole position, gave him the victory. "I'm not proud of it, but we worked together as a team. So thanks to Oscar," said Norris after the race.
But the race was not without controversy! Just three hours before the qualification at the Grand Prix of Brazil was investigated against Verstappen because he might have violated the rules during a virtual safety car phase. The Red Bull Pilot has to return five starting places due to an unauthorized engine change during the race on Sunday. Despite these difficulties, Verstappen tried to assert themselves in the race, but only finished third.
a risky maneuver
Piatri and Norris quickly stopped from the rest of the field, while Verstappen behind them dared to make a risky maneuver to make places. "Take time, Max. You know how the game works," his team sparked on him. The planned exchange of space between Piatri and Norris was delayed, since Verstappen overtook Leclerc and thus complicated the strategy of the McLaren pilots. In the 22nd round, shortly before the race was interrupted by a virtual safety car phase, Piatri Norris left Norris, which made the British first sprint victory. Verstappen later tried to fight Norris, but gave up and secured third place.
