District Administrator Olaf Schade: Farewell after 30 years in the district council!

Hattingen/Sprockhövel. A political earthquake in the Ennepe-Ruhr district: District Administrator Olaf Schade has surprisingly announced that it will not run for the office again! At the SPD parliamentary group on Saturday, November 9th, he made his decision public and caused excitement.

After 30 years in the district council, including nine years as a district administrator, Schade draws a line. "No member of the district council is there longer," he emphasizes proudly. But the considerations for a new candidacy were not easy. Schade explains that he had to keep an eye on not only for the coming months, but the entire election period by autumn 2030. The daily burden and the increasing hardness in political arguments would have severely affected him. "I had failed for a while, but now I'm fit again," he assures.

A look back at the challenges

In his term in office, Schade mastered numerous crises, including the Corona pandemic and the flood of the century. He emphasizes that important future projects such as the renovation of the district schools and the construction of a security center were successfully promoted. "The regional tasks were often shouldered with the cities in the division of labor", so Schade. Social and civic engagements have also been promoted, and the circle remains a guarantee for social security.

With a clear focus on climate protection and securing biodiversity, a shame records: "The central future task was tackled." While the political landscape in the Ennepe-Ruhr district is changing, it remains to be seen who will compete. Too bad will work for the circle until the end of the election period - a farewell that could go into the history books!
