The German handball players burned an impressive fireworks at the start of the European Championship qualification and swept Switzerland from the SAP Arena in Mannheim with a clear 35:26 (21:13). Just 88 days after the sensational silver coup at the Olympic Games, the boys from national coach Alfred Gislason show that they are ready to achieve great again. Before 12,721 enthusiastic fans, they put on a lightning start and secured the first two points on the way to the Euro 2026.
The star of the evening? Lukas Zerbe, who shone with seven goals and played the Swiss defense dizzy. Goalkeeper Andreas Wolff was also a rock in the surf and kept the opposing attacks with impressive parades. Despite some injured key players like Juri Knorr and Julian Köster, Germany dominated the events in the field and led at half -time with 21:13.
