The new foundation stone for Duisburg's modern fire and rescue station laid!
In Duisburg-Mitte, the foundation was laid for a brand new fire and rescue station! High -ranking representatives, including Mayor Sören Link and district mayor Elvira Ulitzka, gathered on Mercatorstrasse to celebrate this symbolic moment. With an impressive construction volume of around 28.2 million euros, this project will not only significantly improve the operational readiness of the fire brigade and emergency services, but also set standards in terms of sustainability and modernity.
The new guard is built on a total area of 5,401 m² and offers the latest technology and environmentally friendly architecture. A two -storey building with workshops, a hall for emergency vehicles and a multi -purpose hall for training is planned. The ventilation system with heat recovery, which ensures high energy efficiency, is particularly innovative. Thomas Patermann, spokesman for the Board of the Business Company Duisburg, emphasized the sustainable aspects: "The greening of the roof areas and modern technologies show our commitment to an environmentally friendly construction."
archaeological challenges and construction time
But the construction project also brings challenges! An archaeological examination of the building plot that has been prescribed by law has started since May 2024 and could result in economic and time consequences. Despite this work, the first construction phase has already started. The completion of the new fire and rescue station is planned for spring 2026, and the Duisburg infrastructure company mbH (DIG) is carrying out the project with a proven planning team. Managing Director Matthias Palapys emphasizes: "Practical, durable, sustainable and chic - our requirements are high!"
