Duisburg chooses: AfD sends Carsten Groß into the race for OB posts!

Duisburg. The tension increases in the race for the mayor! On September 14, 2025, Duisburg's political parquet is shaken by a new challenger: the AfD has nominated its candidate for the local and OB election. Carsten Groß, a 53-year-old energy electronics technician, was elected at the party congress on November 3 with impressive 97.4 percent of the vote. A strong sign for the AfD!

Groß, who is already active in the South District Representation and acts as the deputy treasurer of the party, has 36 years of experience from the Krupp-Mannesmann steelworks. He has been a member of the AfD since 2018 and is determined to be there for all Duisburgers who identify with their city and respect the legal system as the mayor. "I want to be a mayor who works for all citizens," he emphasized in his party speech. His main focus is on improving the infrastructure - including clean and safe roads that are essential for a modern industrial city.

a strong contingent of candidates

with Carsten Groß, the AfD competes in the competition for the Mayor's office, where he against the incumbent Sören Link from the SPD, the volunteer mayor Sylvia Linn from the CDU and Dr. Sebastian Ritter will compete from the Greens. "With Carsten Groß, we send an excellent candidate and people to choose OB," said district chairman Andreas Laasch. The Duisburg voters therefore have an exciting selection of candidates who will fight for their voice!
